Spring Branch

Spring Branch is a friendly, family-oriented community with a multicultural flair.

Welcome to Spring Branch

Peaceful living in a culturally rich Houston community.

One of Houston’s largest suburban neighborhoods, Spring Branch is a friendly, family-oriented community with a multicultural flair. With access to daily conveniences like grocery stores and dry cleaners, a wide expanse of green spaces, and a top-notch school system, this is the perfect place for families to call home.

Even older than the city of Houston, Spring Branch was founded in 1830 by German immigrant Karl Kolbe and began as nothing but a log cabin, a stream, and lots of trees. Flash-forward to the 1950s and Spring Branch had become a suburbanite paradise with ranch-style homes and all the amenities of big-city living.

Today, this peaceful enclave is known for authentic Korean, Vietnamese, Polish and Mexican cuisine, and a laid-back lifestyle.

People and Lifestyle

With its easy suburban feel and friendly neighborhood vibes, Spring Branch is a favorite of young families. Green spaces abound in this pretty, tree-lined area, and parents love to hop from park to park with their kids. Residents take advantage of the global cuisine by exploring a different region for each meal. A Saturday might include Polish donuts for breakfast, gyros for lunch, and an authentic Korean meal for dinner.

Dining, Entertainment, and Shopping

Coveted for its multitude of global eats, Spring Branch boasts an impressive array of restaurants, diners, and cafes of all origins. Roostar, a Vietnamese sandwich shop with an emphasis on scratch-made ingredients, has become one of Houston’s most praised banh mi spots. Started by University of Houston students in 2015, Roostar is known for its pate, signature garlic aioli, and artisan baguettes, as well as its colorful street-vendor vibe.

Level up your Taco Tuesday game at Torchy's Tacos. These “Damn Good” tacos, so named by Torchy’s fans, are innovative, unique, and often full of experimental flavor combinations. You’ll also find award-winning queso and refreshing margaritas at this friendly, lively spot.

For a casual bite with fast service, there’s no better place in Spring Branch than Mia's Table
This local favorite dishes up burgers, barbeque, and country-style sides, plus housemade shakes and cookies. Eat like a local and order the chicken-fried chicken with jalapeno sauce and mashed potatoes.

The Lone Star state is famous for premium steakhouses, and the Taste of Texas holds its own as one of Houston’s best-loved destinations for old-fashioned steak, service, and a salad bar. This family-friendly spot offers a warm atmosphere, high-end service, and an on-site butcher shop.

Even if you’re a vegetarian, it’s worth a trip just for the homemade bread and deep-dish pecan pie.

Things to Do

Spring Branch’s cultural cache is on full display during its annual festivals. As the name implies, the Polish Festival serves up all things authentically Polish. Stop by the bright and vibrant pop-up market to buy Polish clothes and art, enjoy pierogies and kielbasa and wash it all down with Polish beer. The best part? All of your fun benefits a good cause — this nonprofit organization puts all the proceeds back into the Our Lady of Czestochowa church and community.

Houston International Festival, also known as iFest, is a multi-disciplinary art and music festival. Sprawling over 16 city blocks of Spring Branch’s parks and plazas, the iFest is a global project for promoting world geography, traditions, and cultures. Learn authentic dances from around the globe, sample international cuisine, treat yourself to arts, crafts, clothing, and cultural instruments, and take in the sounds of the world’s best music at the main stage. The event features themed entertainment zones highlighting traditions, music, and heritage from around the globe.

For a low-key day with the family, pack up a picnic, grab the pups, and head over to Nob Hill Park. This dog-friendly family gathering spot offers playgrounds, trails for hiking, jogging, and biking, as well as big open areas to play softball and soccer.
